向 Victor Jara 致敬

Naomi Klien 的 Shock Doctrine,不但讓我醒覺到經濟起飛背後令人震駭的事情 (不只是歷史,至今在世界不同角落仍不斷重演!),還讓我認識 Victor Jara 這個智利反極權政府的民歌手:

“In Santiago, the legendary left-wing folk singer Victor Jara was among those taken to the Chile Stadium…

First the soldiers broke both his hands so he could not play the guitar, then they shot him 44 times…

To make sure he could not inspire from beyond the grave, the regime ordered his master recordings destroyed.”

七八十年代,是香港的黃金起飛時期,但在南美洲多國,卻經歷了由美國推動,以震盪經濟療法進行的改革,實際上是以極殘暴的政治滅族行動 (political genocide),去清洗異見者,被處死 (不少是折磨致死)、暗殺、或人間蒸發的數以百萬計,而 Victor Jara 就是其中一人。當權者指被正法的都是威脅國家的邪惡人士,但其實很多都只是持有不同政見的平民、作家、藝術家、學生、音樂家等。正如 Victor Jara 的歌詞所言:he never harmed anyone, he was destroyed

可幸網上仍可以找到他的作品,nuevacancion還提供下載呢! 我亦在 Youtube 建立了一個 Victor Jara Playlist ,包括一些珍貴的電視錄影演出。

很喜歡他在1973年,被處決前一年,最後一張還未完成大碟中的一首歌: Manifiesto,MTV中更可以看到當時Pinochet暴政下的情況:

一個我很喜歡的加拿大創作女歌手。

第一次接觸她的音樂,是 Wim Wenders “Until the End of the World” 電影中的插曲 “Calling all angels,” 她寫的歌詞與音樂很隨心,如內心一把聲音跟自己講話一樣。

以下是幾首至愛 (按 “INFO” 可連結到歌詞):

近年她再沒有出碟,創作沒停止,只是不想再製造塑膠廢料,因此只會在個人音樂網站 Sheeba 上提供MP3下載 (又多一個喜歡她的原因!)。近日上她的網站瀏覽,更發現她的音樂收費中,竟然有一項是”a gift from Jane”,不得不佩服她對音樂一份純淨的熱誠!

Jane  的畫作年多前她改名為Issa,並悄悄把屋子、首飾、甚至是書本、衣服、樂器和一箱箱的錄音母帶變賣,就帶著一個旅行箱子,展開她的巡迴演唱會,往後會去什麼地方?沒有定案,只知道身旁之物愈少愈輕,更能隨心所欲,對於52歲的 Jane/Issa 來說,承受到生命的輕,方可飛往更廣闊天地!

看見家裡愈來愈多的雜物,暫時我只能透過 Jane / Issa 的音樂,夢遊天地間…
